CASE SCENARIO: An ADN nurse and a transport tech are having a personal social conversation while transferring an elderly patient from a wheelchair to a hospital bed. Neither are being mindful of the patient�s ability to transfer safely. While normally capable of transferring with minimal assistance, the patient was having difficulty this day due to weakness from episodes of vomiting and diarrhea. The patient falls and as a result suffers a fractured left femur.
