The biologists decide to study the bacteria living on islands and they hypothesize that the number of species of bacteria on an island doubles for every 10 x increase in island size. 1. Using the biologists hypothesis if there are 15 species on an island with area of 1 m^2 how many species would you expect to find on an island with area of 10 m^2? The biologists find islands matching the sizes listed above (1 m2 10m2 and 100m2) and count the actual number of species of bacteria on each (listed in the table below). Perform a Chi square test using the biologists model for the relationship between island size and species number to determine the expected number of species. Hint: in finding the expected values think about the ratio of the number of species you expect to find on islands of these sizes (much like the way we got expected values for dihybrid crosses). I know this is a long one but I seem to be struggling on finding the proper ratio and making a formula for the statement doubles for every 10x increase in island size. For number 2 I have a chi square box with the following numbers in the observed portion. 1m^2=2 10m^2=5 100m^2= 10. If someone can help me figure out the Expected values I can get the rest.
