Extrinsic individuals are motivated by external sources and outside influences. They often are inspired to do things out of not wanting to get in trouble or in order to obtain some type of reward or personal gain. Examples. they study to get a good grade, they clean their room to avoid punishment or they do a good deed for recognition or benefit. These are the folks that you can get to stop something by offering them something in return, bribe them with reimbursement.
Motivating an individual that is intrinsic would include: finding what they are passionate about and what drives them? I would detremine what drives them and offer them that task, a task we know that a motivated person will do well at.
