You should refer to at least three works by your chosen artist Think about the following in your essay: You might like to make a short case for why you have chosen a specific question to explore your chosen artist (in your introduction): why is this artist appropriate to explore this area and to address this question in particular? You might want to define your key terms clearly and/or explain your key approach clearly to the reader. (e.g. what is obscenity what is psychoanalysis) You should consult important texts and websites which relate to your artist in order to explore how other scholars/museums have interpreted their works. Consulting other sources will give you an idea of what methods these scholars have employed to research an artists work and whether there is a historiography of writing about this particular artist. You might want to critically engage with (challenge) the existing interpretations of the artist in question. For example you might want to argue that psychoanalysis is a good way of exploring Lucien Freuds work instead of focusing on his biography as other scholars have done.
