Critical thinking takes a closer look at base knowledge and incorporates that knowledge into a higher understanding. An important question to ask when looking at any topic is why? This one worded simple question leads to another level of cognitive thought process. It requires one to look at the information they currently possess and decide if they truly understand the reasoning behind it.
Assignment
For this assignment you will be required to complete a case study related to the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act. A scenario will be presented followed by a series of questions for you to answer that relate to the law and your nursing practice.
Paper Specifications
The case study will be made available on the course page and should be completed electronically. Save it to your computer and then forward one electronic copy to your lab instructor. All questions must be completely answered using Times New Roman font size 12. A cover sheet with your name course name and banner identification number must accompany your case study along with the grading rubric and a reference page. The reference page should list references in APA style. A minimum of three references are to be used. These references are to be reliable educational sources (not Wikipedia). Web sites that end in .edu .gov or .org may be used but any sites that end in .com will not be accepted as references unless approved in advance by the instructor; with permission obtained in writing. The assignment may be submitted at any time prior to the week it is due however no assignments will be accepted during week 8. You must submit the assignment (paper cover sheet grading rubric reference page) as a Microsoft Word document emailed to your instructor.
Punctuation and Grammar
It is expected that punctuation grammar and spelling will be correct prior to submission. College level course work should be reflected in your assignment.
