— AFTER ALL, THESE ARE CALLED “DISCUSSIONS” BTW, THE STUDENT IN MY FALL CLASS COMMENTED ON THE GET OUT WITH SOME STUDENT SAYING THAT THE IDEA OF UNDERGOING HYPNOSIS PROVED TO THEM SO SCARY THEY WOULD NEVER TRY. LET ME ASSURE YOU, FROM SOMEONE WHO HAD AN EXTENSIVE BACKGROUND IN THAT AREA BACK IN THE 80S WHEN UCI MEDICAL CENTER HAD A HYPNOTHERAPY AND PAIN CLINIC AND I HAD A WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM FOR YEARS. TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THAT GET OUT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE USE OF HYPNOSIS IN A THERAPEUTIC CONTEXT THAT’S MY STORY AND I’M STICKING TO IT! WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BASIC THEORIES SURROUNDING HYPNOSIS. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCES THEY WOULD LIKE TO SHARE, EITHER PERSONAL OR ABOUT OTHERS? THERE IS SO MUCH I COULD SAY ON THIS SUBJECT THAT I TRY TO GET A FEEL FOR WHAT YOU FOLKS ARE INTERESTED IN DISCUSSING, SO GO FOR IT — THE BALL’S IN YOUR COURT.

BTW, the student in my Fall class commented on the Get Out with some student saying that the idea of undergoing hypnosis proved to them so scary they would never try.

Let me assure you, from someone who had an extensive background in that area back in the 80s when UCI Medical Center had a Hypnotherapy and Pain Clinic and I had a working relationship with them for years.

Trust me when I say that Get Out has absolutely nothing to do with the use of hypnosis in a therapeutic context that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

What are some of the basic theories surrounding hypnosis. Does anyone have any experiences they would like to share, either personal or about others?

There is so much I could say on this subject that I try to get a feel for what you folks are interested in discussing, so go for it — the ball’s in your court.
