Nurses understand the fundamentals of a good working relationship and historically, are successful in coordinating patient care even when there are conflicting methods of treatment and goals among healthcare providers. In addition to goal agreement and good communication, collaboration requires creation and synergy among the professions. In this context, collaboration of an interprofessional team requires a deeper understanding of each profession�??s skills, values, roles, and perceptions such that the combined professions produce a unique skill set which can design something completely new and better than when working as an independent profession
