Introduction

During an assessment, I looked at Michael Mason, a patient that suffered from high blood pressure. The reason for this is that I will be doing my assessment at the university using a patient to perform blood pressure on and take their readings to do the report. As part of the medical team, I had to comprehend that blood pressure entails anatomic force employed to transport blood from different organs of the body. I also had to understand that blood pressure comprised of two parts: diastolic (pressure involved when the heart acquires blood from other organs) and systolic part (pressure that squeezes blood out of the heart). I also made some calculations and comparisons based on cardiac output, blood volume, and total peripheral resistance. I made him understand that high blood pressure in the carotid sinus made the arterial walls to stretch by increasing pumping activities within the baroreceptor. The information sent to the medulla decreased the blood pressure to a level of normalcy. The ward medical team ensured the maintenance of his blood pressure through homeostasis.
